There are 3 camps in the area. The main camp (MWANJA) houses both hunters and fishermen (although separately). The camp is right on the banks of the Zambezi and is set under massive Acacia type trees with green lawns and a beautiful view. Clients are serenaded at night by the sounds of Hippo as well as Lion and Leopard on occasion. Bird life in camp and surrounds is fantastic. The camp consists of traditional thatch and stone chalets, each with two beds, overhead fans and a private flush toilet and shower. The main dining room is thatched and offers 3 course tasty meals (usually of game meat) and healthy supplies of vegetables and salads. There is a huge generator for electricity (220v) so ice and cold drinks are in abundance. There is a small pool for clients to swim.
There are two tented camps (KANDARARO and KONDO) that are situated in more remote areas of the concession. Both camps are basic but comfortable. The tents are typical Safari style - spacious and an en suite bucket shower and flush toilet. There is 12 bolt lighting in these camps. KANDARARO is for the more energetic clients and there are no roads in this area so all hunting is done on foot or by boat. KONDO is set back in the mountains and offers easy access to the back areas.
Access to the area is either by the Company's King Air twin engine aircraft or by vehicle. You can arrive in Harare (Capital city) and will be met there either by the pilot or PH who will assist you and transfer you to the aircraft or vehicle for transfer to camp. Flying time is 40 minutes and driving time is about 6 - 7 hours by Landcruiser. Transfer costs are from Harare to camp and back
The camp comprises 8 twin bedded thatch chalets with open plan view of the surrounding countryside. Each chalet has private bathroom and 240 volt electricity. The camp is very comfortable and suitable for families. The dining room is fully thatched and overlooks a waterhole. A swimming pool is available for your convenience. Cuisine is excellent and full meals and a range of local drinks is provided.
Transfers to camp may be by air charter from Harare (Capital City) and takes about one hour. If you prefer to see the country you may choose the option of driving to camp which will be approximately 5 hours each way.
