CLIMATE & WEATHER IN SOUTH AFRICA

Temperatures during the days are normally very pleasant.  June through August are our winter months with the end of June through the first of August as the coldest.  Temperatures may range from close to freezing at night to the 70's in the daytime during these months. Although the daytime temperatures can be quite pleasant, I recommend layering your clothing so as the temperatures warm the outer layers can be removed.

Average Temperatures (F°)
Month Minimum Maximum
March 60 82
April 53 78
May 44 75
June 37 71
July 37 73
August 42 75
September 50 77
October 55 77

South Africa experiences summer rainfall, usually late November to early March, so early and late season hunts can expect some rain.  The KwaZulu-Natal Province has very little rainfall in their winter, however taking a light poncho rain coat is a good idea just in case.

The chart above shows the average temperatures.  As these temperatures may vary from year to year, I recommend that you go to the link above and with your safari dates in mind, use the history function that is located on the above site to check your safari dates for the last couple of years to get a better idea as to what the temperatures actually were.
